I've always found the original Tomahawk book drab and kinda tedious. But man did I love the whole "Son of" era, as brief as it was.

The film was pretty notorious at the time, so I'd imagine it was a deliberate reference. One more attempt at "relevance" perhaps.

Bob Haney is famous for his ultra-bizarre plots, but Kanigher gave him a run for his money.

And why is the title a riff on a foreign-made adult film? I'm guessing that reference flew right by the straight-arrow folks at the CCA.

I LOVED this issue at the time. Living in tropical multicultural Singapore it fitted right in with my world view then (and now). Times have changed and everything is so pc these days, but it was pretty good for a kiddies comic i think. Sort of values that should be promoted (equality) wihtout all the negative slacker hoodlum hiphop cliches that youngsters aspire to...

Ha! It's been ages since I read this one. DC should do an updated version, I'd love to see how that would turn out.

Are you going to review Lois shouting that she won't give up her papoose next? Go on! It's another classic.

The current version doesn't do anything does she? Very poor.

Yeah, I think it was done with the best of intentions, and who knows, perhaps a few white kids among the massive readership did get some insight into what living in a ghetto might be like. When a story has its heart so firmly in the right place, my cynicism flies somewhat out the window.
